GUADALUPE CREDIT UNION

Our History
Father Edward J. McCarthy established Guadalupe Credit Union in 1948, for the purpose of serving the parishioners of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Santa Fe. In the 1970's, GCU merged with St. Anne's Credit Union as well as with Health and Environment and Human Services Credit Union, and in 1985, Guadalupe Credit Union merged with Cristo Rey Credit Union. This merge expanded GCU's field of membership to a large portion of the community of Santa Fe. As a result, the Board of Directors applied to the State of New Mexico to have the charter expanded to include anyone living or working in Santa Fe County.

In 2016, GCU merged with St. Gertrude's Credit Union in Mora, and today we are a not-for-profit financial cooperative that proudly serves Northern New Mexicans of all faiths, professions, ages and backgrounds. By serving the community with compassion, GCU provides a welcoming and inclusive environment.

In 2010, GCU received the designation of Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), which recognizes financial institutions that are 100% dedicated to delivering responsible, affordable lending to help low-income, low-wealth, and other underserved communities join the economic mainstream.

In 2015, GCU also received the Juntos Avanzamos credit union designation, which formally recognizes credit unions in the U.S. that specifically tailor financial products and services to serve Hispanic communities, as well as immigrant communities.

We offer products and services designed to make your life better. We provide a safe place to save your money and a place to borrow money at very reasonable rates. Our employees encourage personal financial empowerment to our members, providing the tools to get them there. We also have nationally certified Financial Coaches at all of our branches, who are available to meet one-on-one, for fairs, or to present classes in English and Spanish on a variety of subjects related to money management, credit, and planning for the future.
